Groundwater Management

Butte, Glenn, Tehama and Colusa County have agreed to coordinate their activities for water resources, including groundwater. These four counties overlie the Lower Tuscan Aquifer, a regional resource that is believed to contain large quantities of water. Because use of the resource in one county could impact another, this type of coordination is critical.

Four County Memorandum of Understanding

 

The first addendum to the Four County MOU addresses sharing of information, circulation of environmental documents for water projects, and cooperation to aquire grant funds to characterize aquifer properties.

Four County MOU Addendum

 

The four counties and six water districts within those counties have entered into a memorandum of understanding stating that the entities will coordinate, collaborate and communicate regarding water resources, with a specific focus on the Lower Tuscan Aquifer.

Multiparty Water Resources MOU

 

The Four County Group contracted with the Center for Collaborative Policy out of Sacramento State University to intervew stakeholders in regional groundwater management to provide a recommendation regarding future efforts towards collaborative management. That report documents stakeholder perspectives and provides recommendations for next steps to move towards collaboration.
